Most recently, Al Smith managed the 40 acres of land to grow tomatoes, corn, melons, herbs and more. Over the years, Al built a very close relationship with Lupe Valencia, who had worked on his farm for years. Al taught him what he had learned about farming, and when Al passed away in 2022, Lupe took over farm operations. Lupe and his wife Adriana work hard to grow a variety of crops on their farm while their two dogs, Julio and Tomás, run around chomping on ears of corn instead of milk bones! This Fall you can find arugula, carrots, dill, cilantro, kohlrabi, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage and more at Three Way Farms’ stand at the McCutcheon/Mount Vernon Market. Stop by to say hello and pick up some veggies!
