Wakefield and Kingstowne Halloween Celebration!

Market Fresh Events

Trick-or-Treat at Wakefield and Kingstowne

Join us for a Halloween celebration at the Wakefield and Kingstowne Markets on the last day these markets are open for the season. We will be Trick-or-Treating, playing games, and celebrating the great season we’ve had at these two markets. Come in costume for some Halloween fun!

  • Wednesday, October 25, Wakefield, 2-6 p.m.
  • Friday, October 27, Kingstowne, 3-7 p.m.

Plastic-Free October at Wakefield

If you shop at Wakefield, you may have noticed we are going plastic bag-free for the month of October. After talking to our vendors, we discovered that some go through up to 4,000 plastic bags in a single Market day. This not only is harmful for the environment; it also is costly for our vendors. In an effort to reduce consumption of plastic bags, we are asking all vendors to only give out green compostable bags and paper bags. We are also providing reusable bags throughout the Market for you to use instead of plastic. Help us out by bringing your own reusable bags to the Market!

Compost Competition Update

Thank you to all who participated in our September Compost Competition! With your help we collected over 23,000 lbs. of food scraps across all 10 Markets. In total, we have diverted over 81,000 lbs. of food scraps away from the landfill this season, all because of YOU! Composting your food scraps reduces harmful greenhouse gases and helps to build nutrient-rich soil.

Vendor Spotlight

Belen Bakery

Eight years ago, Carolina followed her passion and opened a coffee shop in Bolivia, her home country.

With handmade lamps and decorations from Carolina’s mom and recipes inspired by her sister, an award-winning chef, Belen Bakery is a busy spot to get delicious baked goods.

Carolina decided to bring her extravagant cakes, savory empanadas, and coconut-coated alfajores to the Annandale Market this year!

All of her recipes are inspired by her Bolivian heritage as well as her sister’s world travels. Carolina’s personal favorite is the cheesecake, which you can order whole or as a slice.

Stop by the Annandale Market. this week to say hello and take home a slice of deliciousness!
