Vendor Spotlight

Spring Valley

In the early 2000s, Eli and Misty Cook started Spring Valley Farm with about 50 acres of land.
Now, they have expanded to almost 400 acres and grow a variety of fruits and vegetables practically all year long, thanks to their 10 greenhouses.

When the Fairfax County Park Authority Farmers Market Team arrived on the farm, they were greeted by Joe, one of Spring Valley Farm's managers who has been working with Eli for over 15 years. As they drove through their more than 180 acres of orchards, Joe pointed out the more than 40 varieties of nectarines and peaches they grow, citing the name of each variety, when they came into season, and how well they did this year.

With more than 15,000 apple trees and 10,000 peach trees, Joe knows the orchard like the back of his hand! In addition to the orchard, Spring Valley grows a variety of field crops, such as broccoli, green beans, beets, spicy lettuce mix, Brussels sprouts and broccoli. You can find Spring Valley at the Burke Market on Saturdays.
